Applications of IRA401CL Ion Exchange Resin

Used in drinking water filtration systems to soften water or remove unnecessary minerals in water.

• Water is softened by using a resin containing Na+ bonded to another cation (anion), which has a stronger affinity for Ca2+ and Mg2+ than Na+.
• When the resin is placed in an ion exchange column and the water to be treated flows through the column, the cation in the resin will bond with Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions and retain them in the column.
• At the same time, Na+ is released into the water, helping to remove Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions in the drinking water, making the water softer.

Recommendations for Use

• Pre-treatment: It is recommended to use in combination with strong acid cation resin to completely remove ions in water.
