Efficient Hotel Wastewater Treatment System

A hotel wastewater treatment system is a series of devices combined to address the issue of water pollution.

Hotel Wastewater Treatment System

Before installation, you can rely on some criteria below to choose a suitable system:

  • Understand the characteristics of the wastewater source such as flow rate and discharge mode.
  • Determine the nature and composition of the dirt in the wastewater that needs to be removed.
  • Understand the natural characteristics of each area and geological features, meteorology to install a suitable system.
  • Choose technologies, methods, and equipment suitable for the investment cost.

Based on these factors, you can install a suitable wastewater treatment system for the hotel. Then, you can refer to the process.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the System

The hotel wastewater treatment system brings various advantages and disadvantages. Using this system will definitely bring many benefits to the business.

Advantages and disadvantages of installing a wastewater treatment system

Advantages

  • For hotels with irregular wastewater flow rates and concentrations, this system is very suitable.

  • Effectively treat organic matter, nitrogen, and phosphorus mainly found in hotel wastewater.

  • Easy to operate, installation costs are low.

Disadvantages

  • Generate a large amount of sludge, requiring frequent sludge removal.

Hotel Wastewater Treatment Process

Looking at the wastewater treatment technology diagram, we can have a general overview of the operation process of the wastewater treatment system, specifically:

Trash Separation

Trash separation is the first step in the wastewater treatment process for hotels. Large-sized waste is sent to the equalization tank for removal. This step plays a role in separating trash, removing coarse objects to protect the equipment. At the same time, large solid waste is removed to enhance treatment efficiency.

Trash Separation

Grit and Grease Separation

Next in the hotel wastewater treatment system is the need to separate grit and grease. Wastewater flows through grit chambers where the water circulates for about 1 - 2 hours. During this time, dirty grit will settle down the pipes. Floating organic matter will be removed. The hotel wastewater will then continue to the equalization tank.

Equalization Tank

The wastewater from the hotel usually concentrates at certain times of the day. Therefore, the equalization tank helps regulate the flow of wastewater. Hence, when the wastewater volume increases, it will be mainly retained in the equalization tank. The equalization tank provides many benefits to the wastewater treatment system:

  • Help balance the flow of organic matter, wastewater evenly throughout the day.
  • Support continuous operation, avoid situations of full operation and non-operation.
  • Can reduce the concentration of chemicals, substances with high characteristics.
  • Effective odor removal.

The wastewater will be evenly mixed through the air supply system of the air blower. Therefore, the phenomenon of decay due to lack of air causing unpleasant odors is eliminated.

Anoxic Biological Treatment Tank

Anoxic biological treatment tank, also known as Anoxic tank. This type of tank is used to synthesize compounds such as BOD reduction, conversion of Nitrate NO3 to N2, NH4+ reduction, etc. Using activated sludge tanks can be combined with the anoxic treatment process. Use the carbon content in the wastewater to reduce NO3 and oxygen.

Subsequently, the wastewater will be sent to the anoxic tank before being transferred to the aerobic biological treatment tank.

Anoxic Biological Treatment Tank

Aerobic Biological Treatment Tank (Aerotank)

The Aerotank is a stage that accelerates the aerobic decay process of biomass by cell respiration. Then, the sludge will be separated in the settling tank to circulate back to the biological tank to maintain the food source. In the oxygen tank, organic matter is decomposed into CO2, H2O along with new biomass. Water is transferred from the aerobic tank to the anoxic tank to ensure complete nitrate removal.

Biological Settling Tank

In the biological settling tank, it is where the biomass settles down when the aerobic microorganisms are settled. Excess activated sludge is settled and periodically sucked back with a sludge suction truck. The water after settling sludge is also collected to pass through the disinfection tank.

Disinfection Tank

This is the final process in the hotel wastewater treatment system. Chlorine is used for disinfection, killing disease-causing bacteria. When the wastewater meets the standard, it will be discharged into the city's sewer system. The standard for hotel wastewater is regulated in QCVN 14:2008 BTNMT.

Toan A Environmental Technology Joint Stock Company is a unit that designs, constructs safe and efficient wastewater treatment projects for hotels. Therefore, wastewater treatment is essential.
